The James River Association's Self-Directed Trash Cleanup Program allows you to direct your own trash clean up. JRA and the CCE will provide necessary supplies, including trash grabbers, gloves, bags, first aid kits, and a report sheet.

The clean up will take place at Ancarrow's Landing, at the head of the the Richmond Slave Trail. The Richmond Slave Trail is a walking trail that chronicles the history of the trade of enslaved Africans from Africa to Virginia until 1775, and away from Virginia, especially Richmond, to other locations in the Americas until 1865. This area is critical to the story of race and racism Richmond, and is visited yearly for tours, particularly during Black History month in February. To learn more about the immediate area you will be working in, visit the Historical Marker Database.
